HOLY TRANSFIGURATION MONASTERY began making incense some forty years ago. Since that time we have tried innumerable oil samples and learned much about the preparation, drying and packaging of incense. We receive orders for our incense from around the world. It has been a blessing for the monastery that our incense is used in the churches of the Holy Land and at holy places throughout the Orthodox world.

Our incense is compounded of fragrant oils and a base of pure ground frankincense. It is made by hand, cut into small pieces and cured for several months, after which time the incense is dry and ready for use. The scent is best released by placing the pieces alongside of (rather than on top of) a lighted charcoal.

The kinds of incense we make are ranged in four categories as indicated below (I, II, III, IV), and vary in price according to the cost of the oil used. Each kind of incense may be ordered in plastic boxes containing one ounce, or in boxes containing one-half pound or one pound.

Additionally, we have three kinds of Natural Frankincense available, which have been carefully cleaned but not modified in any way since harvest. All three are of the highest quality.
